To anyone who was at The Blackout in Cardiff on Tuesday

I know that only me and Bee were two of about 10 people that sung along to New Noise by Refused

So i'm posting this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3AoiVMQqX4

Go educate yourselves.

Not usually my sort of music, but this song is a classic and i was quite disappointed that more people didn't know this song

2009 - The Year Of The Bros

Sorry Bee, i did kinda steal the title from your blog XD

I'm looking back on this year and i've realised how lucky i was. Sure, there were some down points...One in particular sticks in my mind and changed how the rest of the year acted out.

So yeah, it's New Years Eve, i'm sat at home and i'm writing a highlights/lowlights blog for the year.

Lets get the bad stuff out of the way first:

- Getting stuck in London after the second Aiden date because i missed the last tube and having to almost run back to Kings Cross from Camden with someone i had only met twice before. Love to Oiefa, Charlotte, Rachel, Dale and Lauren for helping me out in that situation and being more concerned about me than most people.
- Saying some regretful things to some people
- Trying to become friends with certain people, who then i realised weren't worth the time or the effort
- Not eating in a 12 hour queue and passing out as well as throwing up infront of one of my heroes

Now here's a list of the good stuff...It's gonna be a long one:

- Seeing Jump The Lights live for the first time and, soon after, becoming one of the 'die hards'
- Seeing Kate Is The Decoy on the same day, a band who i will always go see just for the laughs and the randomness of the members.
- Getting to meet Forever The Sickest Kids and Austin Bello becoming one of my favourite people.
- Meeting one of my favourite photographers, Peter Hill. I've looked up to him for about 2 years now, so it was quite nice to finally meet him.
- Meeting Georgina for the second time.
- And, on a related note, the two My Passion gigs in one day.
- Give It A Name 09. Met half of The Blackout for the first time and also Matt Rubano from Taking Back Sunday, who is an amazing guy.
- The Underworld gig. As bad as it was, me and my friends still laugh about points of it.
- The random London trips, which have included cupcakes, photos, Hyde Park and pregnant men
- The Blackout Barfly show
- Seeing Family Force 5
- Spending my birthday at a friends birthday party, but watching Members Of Me and My Passion get drunk. Birthday well spent.
- Being in The Blackout's music video for This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
- Getting to see one of my favourite bands live three times in five days. Norwich, Kingston and London.
- We Are The Ocean!
- Becoming the owner of Jack Barakat's guitar pick, an Alex Gaskarth guitar pick and two All Time Low setlists.
- Helping a lost Jack Barakat, Rian Dawson and Ryan Ogren through Kingston to the venue, including 'ALL TIME LOW! *jumps on Jack*'
- Seeing The King Blues, which is one of my favourite gigs of the year
- Being shocked by 3OH!3's live show
- Being given tickets to Kerrang! Tour dates in Birmingham, Bristol and Southampton for xmas, which brings the total up to 5 now
- Seeing Kate Is The Decoy and The Blackout in a two gigs, two days, two countries thing

And Finally, although it isn't happening this year:

-Being able to independently pay to go to Florida for two weeks

2010 has a lot to beat

Part 2

The Blackout at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff:

- Driving to Cardiff
- Being warned about the crazy family i was going to meet
- Searching for sheep at one of the stops
- Bee getting attacked by grit XD
- Meeting Bee's nan
- Dribble cat!
- Then 'Smack a cat'
- Realising we could smell like Red Bull if we really wanted to
- Getting to the venue after doors
- Double-taking as Ian Watkins walked past a set of doors as we walked past them
- Getting into the main room and finding it about 1/8th full...No joke
- Spending most of the first band wondering if we were standing behind We Are The Ocean or not
- The Blackout covering New Noise, which only me, Bee and about 5 other people in the crowd actually knew
- The Dickhead stage diver, who didn't get the hint even after we started just letting him fall to the floor
- Sean holding mine and Bees hand and literally refusing to let go
- The Blackout performing We're Going To Hell in the crowd
- Then helping Gav untangle his mic lead from Bees foot...Awkward to say the least
- Becoming almost BFFs with Sean...He wouldn't stop looking at us!
- Stage invasion at the end...I ran away from it
- Talking to Snoz about dribbling cats and how sweaty he really was (His shirt was literally soaked through)
- Leaving the venue, where we saw Ian Watkins stood behind the same set of doors we saw him behind earlier.
- Once leaving the venue, we had the same regret that we did/do have with the 'Kingston situation'
- Downing about half a bottle of Cherryade back at the house
- Looking through my photos before finally calling it a night

Now i know i've said before how i really feel about the Blackout, and i'm not joking when i say that i'm sick of the sight of those boys, but no matter how much i cba with their gigs, i never regret going.

It is safe to say that TBO really are one of the best live bands i've seen and i'm going to continue to see them live, no matter how much i see them EVERYWHERE else

The last two gigs of the decade

Highlights blog time!

28/12/09:

-Killing time in Hitchin by running around looking for My Passion logos
- Chavs whistling at us, so started to sing Starstrukk to see if they would whistle in time. They didn't.
- Vom chips!
- Walking to Club 85 then Bee getting a phonecall from Skye, making sure we were actually going to the gig
- Turning up and not being allowed in, so talking to the security guy about IDs
- Going across the road to get a drink and running into Skye outside Papa Johns
- Giving her the cards and presents, which then involved her jumping, hugging us all, running inside to show members of Black Polaris and then starting to cry!
- Finally going into the venue and sitting at the back with KITD instead of going to the stage...We were the only people there that weren't properly connected with the bands.
- The first band sounding like Blink 182 and having Dougie from McFly as a bassist
- The second band not being too bad, that opinion changed later on the night
- Black Polaris being...Interesting, but honestly quite good.
- Having to leave the venue for the 4th band
- Going to the toilets then meeting Mr Cokehead
- Going into the main room after the 4th band and watching Bee get chatted up by the bassist of the second band
- Him then coming over and opening with the line 'I'm not a pedo'
- Then trying to get Georgina to start a long distance relationship with his mate from Birmingham, who honestly looked like Jay Smith
- Heading to the stage for KITD, mainly for fear of our own safety
- Getting embarassed by Skye, as she told the whole crowd about the cards we made for them
- Georgina getting confused when i told her she was older than Tom
- Seeing Skye outside and getting a photo with her before saying a rushed bye and leaving =[

Ok so, honestly, cba with posting the Blackout half just yet...Maybe later or tomorrow

Sunday, 27 December 2009

Ok, so this is just gonna be a big miss-mash of stuff...Is that even a word? Oh well, anyway.

So yesterday i saw some family i haven't seen in two years! I didn't get to see them last year due to work =[ But yesterday was a good laugh. Spent most of my time talking to my cousins, where one of our conversations ended up like this:

Sophie - Yeah, the ghost in Paranormal Activity has footprints, but like bird footprints
Lindsey - So the ghost walks in and drags the woman out of bread?
Me - Out of bread?
Lindsey - Yes bread! That's why he has footprints like a bird. He come in every night to steal their bread!

Seriously, the madness runs in the family. My mum's side is nowhere near as fun. My dads side pwns all.

My calendar has grown a lot as well. Look a few posts back and you will see what it was like. It's now looking like this:

28/12 - Kate Is The Decoy
29/12 - 'The Party'
19/01 - My Passion and Young Guns
24/01 - Travel to Southampton
25/01 - Kerrang! Tour Southampton
26/01 - Kerrang! Tour Bristol
30/01 - Kerrang! Tour Birmingham
05/02 - Kerrang! Tour London
06/02 - Kerrang! Tour London
08/02 - Fly to Florida
22/02 - Fly home from Florida
16/04 - Alesana and A Skylit Drive
17/04 - Bowling For Soup

XDXDXD

Excited doesn't cover it!

Now on a serious note. A lot of my friends have had fallings out recently. Whether or not they read this, i want you to know that i don't want to be involved. Which means no dragging me into any arguments that don't directly involve me.

I hate watching my friends fall out but i keep my nose out. It's not my business and i don't want it to be.

Also yesterday, i got given the best compliment ever! by my friend Beth.

It involved her telling me that i'm to nice, like Rian Dawson, but without having a piano in my mouth.

So yeah, being compared to one of my fave members of ATL makes me happy.

Also yes, i love ATL all the same, but Rian and Jack are just slightly ahead of Alex and Zack.

Now on a completely serious, and slightly related, note, i would like to say this to someone.

Don't take the fact that i'm a nice person for granted! After everything you've done since the beginning of this year, it's starting to run out. When i first met you a few years ago, you were one of my best friends. Read that again and see what one word sticks out. WERE! You do not know me as well as you used to, stop believing you do.

I MISS OLD ALL TIME LOW!!!

If you understand what i REALLY mean by that, i love you =]

5 Dates?!

So yeah, as you probably all know, i'm going to Birmingham and both London Kerrang tour dates.

Yeah, well opening presents this morning, i found an IOU for Bristol Kerrang tour tickets for me and Bee!!!

And if that wasn't amazing enough, i then got told by Bee that her mum had bought us Southampton Kerrang tour tickets!!!!

5 DATES!!!!!

IN TWO WEEKS!!!!

It will actually be amazing

Tuesday, 22 December 2009

Seriously, what the fuck?

No part of you is the person i used to know.

From what i've seen recently, i realised how much you've changed.

It's not for the better.

You have done a complete u-turn on the person i became friends with.

I'm giving up, honestly.
I don't care about your life any more and i'm sick of trying to help.

I hope you realise what went wrong soon enough, regardless it is to late to fix any of it.

You talk like you're famous
You're shameless

Sunday, 20 December 2009

So yesterday...

Was a mixture of things.

I found out that i'm going to Birmingham for Kerrang Tour!!

Bee actually got me tickets as my christmas present!

Do you see why i love that girl?

KITD gig got cancelled =[

We gave JTL their xmas card, which they seemed to like seeing as it was made out of literally glitter and crayon.

Meeting the 'street team' (They seriously don't deserve that name)

Being one of the few people who actually knew the Tick Tock dance

And many other things i honestly cba to type atm

It was a good/bad/weird day, complete with shopping in Asda to buy random unhealthy crap with Georgina when we got back to Hatfield

Tomorrow i get to go back to my favourite city in the world and get to see people i haven't seen in months!

Then, of course, it's xmas on Friday

XDXD

Friday, 18 December 2009

The term 'Love my life' has never been more suitable

I'm seeing Georgina, Bee and, possibly, Sarah tomorrow.

Going to see Jump The Lights and Kate Is The Decoy tomorrow as well.

Swapping xmas presents along with all that.

Xmas is a week away

Get to see half of family a week tomorrow. Not seen them in two years!

See Kate Is The Decoy again on the 28th.

Then, on the 29th, i'm off to Cardiff with Bee to go to 'The Party'

My Passion and Young Guns in Hitchin on the 19th January

And it's less than two months till i see All Time Low live again

As well as two months till i go to Florida.

Ok, so most people have more going on than i do.

Some people won't see the fun in all of that.

But i don't give a shit!

I lml even if it's only that

Monday, 14 December 2009

Just for something different...

I decided to make a blog about my five favourite photographers.

Some you may have heard of, some you might not have.
All links will be posted at the end of this

So here they are:

1.

Peter Hill
So i got lead to his site by one of my best friends, while we were both fans of the Automatic. He used to be on tour with them, and would photograph the whole thing.
His Simple Plan photos are some of my favourites ever.
I was also actually lucky enough to meet him when i saw Forever The Sickest Kids at Islington Academy. I kinda confused him by knowing his name, but the fact i got to meet him made me happier than the band i was seeing.

2.

Adam Elmakias
So most of you would have heard of him recently, he was the guy who took the photos of All Time Low literally naked.
I went through his photostream on Flickr, soon realising that (like with the photo above) he actually took some of my favourite promo shots of All Time Low, along with some amazing photos of bands on Warped Tour this summer.

3.

Stacy Magallon
This girl is literally amazing. Would you believe she's only 16?
She takes amazing photos of her home and of the bands she's lucky enough to photograph.
Some of you may have heard of her before, she was the girl that come up with 'The Truth Is...'
She really is one of my favourite photographers ever.

4.

Georgina Potter
So i know that she is one of my best friends, but she is also an amazing photographer. It's because of her that i got a Flickr account, which led me to finding out about many of my other fave photographers.
She's one of the best people you could ever have the chance to meet and i'm honestly priveleged to know someone as talented as she is.

5.

Danny Kurily
So if you've never heard of him, you really don't read this blog very often.

He is better known as the guitar tech for All Time Low.

The photo of Rian is nowhere near his best photo, but it's part of the 'Dawson Project' which was created when i saw All Time Low at the Electric Ballroom on October 5th. One of my favourite memories of that show involves Danny climbing up the rigging on the side of the stage just to take photos for this 'project', with both me and Bee praying he wouldn't fall/die.

Flickrs / Tumblrs everyone mentioned:
(I'm sorry that this blog was probably WAY to long)
My mum informed me a little while ago that, when we are in Florida, Mardi Gras will be happening!

I can't wait!!

XD

Good mood

In 6 days, i see my bro's again for the first time in ages! (For me and Bee, a week is a bloody long time!)

And of course, KITD and JTL, but yeah.

Also, the Christmas decorations have just been put up!

My house looks like it's ready for xmas now!

I just decorate the tree by myself for the first time ever as well!

(My parents don't usually trust me to)

But now i'm in an awesome mood

I'm talking to awesome people

And i honestly just want a hot chocolate...Maybe that's next on the list

Impulse buying

I'm the worst at it.

Seriously.

So today, i went to Welwyn Garden City with my parents. I had no money and they were going xmas shopping for someone, so i thought i'd tag along.

I wasn't supposed to buy anything.

I came home with a new perfume and a new bag for Florida.

But, in my defence, the perfume is AMAZING!!

It's one of Gwen Stefani's 'Harajuku Lovers' perfumes.

It cost £12.50, but it was worth it.

Anyway, i spent £27.50 all together in Welwyn earlier...Of my dad's money.

But then, i had to return my watch (which i was not happy about) so i was £10 richer XDXD

Then i got home and checked Twitter.

I then saw that Young Guns had posted this on their online store:

http://youngguns.bigcartel.com/product/winter-kiss-pre-order-bundle

For £6, you get a t-shirt, poster and cd.

I honestly don't think that's to bad.

So i'm buying that when i get paid on Friday.

And about 20 minutes ago, my friend posted a link on Twitter.

I have now pre-ordered even more All Time Low stuff that i REALLY don't need.

But again, a cd/dvd of their Unplugged performance, a poster and the four figurines for $25 isn't to bad.

It actually come to about £22 and that is WITH the shipping!

Fucking bargain!

Only downside is my bank account is probably like - £10 =[

I really shouldn't be allowed a credit card

I gave and I gave, and You took and You took. Till I was down on the ground Battered and bruised. And then you walked away Because I wasn’t shiny or new. But my wounds have healed, I picked my head up. I dusted myself off and began to walk. And now I’m further then I ever would have been with you by my side. - Danny Kurily

I love that man more than i thought was imaginable,

But yeah, the reason that this was posted is because when i first read that on his Tumblr the other day, i thought of one person, and one person alone.

So maybe it was never that bad with them, i managed to start to walk away before i was 'battered and bruised'.

Right now, i'm walking but they're still calling after me.

Hopefully soon enough they will loose their voice and accept that they've lost me.

Formspring

So i made one.

If there is anything you've ever wanted to ask, no matter how serious or ridiculous, go ask it!

I'll post all answers on here, or my Tumblr...Most likely here though

I've been thinking...

About this past year.

I've realised how much everything has changed.

This time last year, i was looking forward to seeing My Passion at Breaks Manor, after literally just seeing them play the Camden Barfly.

I only spoke to Georgina over msn, having only met her once in person just over a month before.

I was closer to people who i now realise never really thought much of me.

I had heard of Sonic 21, but had never even seen them live.

I had never heard of Kate Is The Decoy.

So Wrong, It's Right by All Time Low was the one cd always stuck in my stereo.

I thought i could trust that one person with everything, that they would always be there to stick up for me.

Most of my friends i had known for under two months.

I had only seen the Blackout once, and never met them!

And now look.

This year i have accomplished so much.

I have met some of the best people you could ever wish to meet in your life.

I've met people that some people would give up so much to meet just once.

I realised that no matter how close you are to someone, you're not as close as you think you are.

Sonic 21 changed their name to Jump The Lights and became one of my favourite local bands.

Kate Is The Decoy not only become another favourite local band, but very good friends as well.

I had the chance to see one of my favourite bands three times in under a week.

I see Georgina at least once a month, and i miss her a ridiculous amount at the times inbetween.

I've been able to pay for myself to go to Florida, while also paying for more gigs than i could ever imagine and two gigs that will let me see one of my favourite bands twice in 48 hours.

I've grown closer to people i used to rarely ever see.

So in short, this year has been, quite literally, a rollercoaster.

What makes me smile is that i still have three weeks of it left.

2010 will have a lot to live up to.

But it's starting off right.

Hopefully with the friends i have now, next decade will be more mindblowing than this one.

This time, in two months...

I would have seen these guys a total of 7 times.

Twice in 48 hours <3

And i will be packing my bags to go here.

I'm honestly loving 2010 more than anything else already
Especially when you consider my calendar for the first two months looks like this:
19/1 - My Passion and Young Guns at Club 85
5/2 - My Passion, Young Guns, The Blackout and All Time Low at the Camden Roundhouse
6/2 - My Passion, Young Guns, The Blackout and All Time Low at the Camden Roundhouse
8/2 - Fly to Florida
22/2 - Come home
Not much, but it's amazing for me XD

Today...

Was a complete laugh. Got to spend time with my lubby!

Regardless i may have hated her for knocking on my front door literally 10 minutes after i woke up. I only just got to the bottom of the stairs as she got to my front door!

But today has made me look even more forward to the 19th.

Jump The Lights and Kate Is The Decoy <3

But yeah, today involved wandering around the Galleria before 11am! What's worst is there were people already walking around! Why?!

Then walking around all the pound shops in the town centre looking for glitter glue.

Making xmas cards with the glitter glue...Using WAY too much of the stuff.

And then deciding to play Guitar Hero...We ended up making characters of Alex Gaskarth, Zack Merrick, Danny Kurily and Flyzik....Jack Barakat already existed and we couldn't make Rian or Greico as they were drummers...We need to make Vinny though!!

But ahh i can't wait for the 19th!

Good bands. Good music. Good friends. Good times!!

But yeah, can i just speed up the next two weeks please?

Friday, 4 December 2009

Just a few words to someone

If they read this, i will be surprised. I don't think they even know this exists.

Then again, if you're reading this, it's not about you...I'm not kidding about them not knowing this blog exists.

But honestly, you think you know me like you used to? You have no idea of some of the things i'm going / have been through. You act like we're as close as we used to be, but you have no idea. I've been through a hell of a lot and a lot of changes have been made. You're not as important as you used to be.

Put your feet on the ground and look at the real world.

And be careful. I'm not gonna pick up all the pieces when this doesn't work out.

Ok, i love All Time Low but i just want to know one thing:
WHY NAKED?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
And i love the fact that the only reason Zack isn't in the first one is because he had already gone out signing before the photo

Thursday, 3 December 2009

Just because i haven't updated in a while

So...What's new.

The 19th has gone from seeing Jump The Lights and The Broadcast live at Remix in Hitchin to seeing Jump The Lights at Remix, then running across Hitchin so we can see Kate Is The Decoy in Club 85 that same night.

In case you couldn't already tell, Jump The Lights and Kate Is The Decoy are literally two of my favourite local bands ever!!

I miss them both way too much =[

Also, my xmas shopping is now almost done. Georgina's presents have been bought. One of Bee's is wrapped up in my room, another is (Hopefully) on order...If not i'm killing someone at FBR, seriously! Half of my brother's present has been bought.

For my dad, i'm doing him a painting of the Blues Brothers, which is his favourite film ever. I remember watching it when i was a kid and it's now slowly starting to become one of my favourite films as well.

For my mum, i have no idea what i'm gonna buy...

My parents are seriously the most awkward people in the world to buy for.

What else...Erm...

Oh yeah, i've started buying stuff for K! tour.
Well ok, a can of dry shampoo and a pair of leggings, but still!
It's the best part of two months away still but i'm looking forward to it so much!
Not just because of spending two days with some of my best friends, but because i'm getting to see one of my favourite bands ever twice in 48 hours!

On another note on the 'favourite band' thing, i actually become the happiest i've been in a while this morning.
Digging around in my wardrobe for a clean shirt, i found my old Simple Plan shirt. And when i say old, i mean i bought it before i saw them live for the first time (14th February 2006).
I haven't been able to wear it pretty much since then because it's been to small =[
But now, it actually fits!!
You have no idea how happy that makes me!
It still remains one of my favourite shirts i've ever bought and, if i'm right, it was one of the first band shirts i EVER owned.

Ok this post is already to long now, so i'm leaving it here

Also, if you want to get me something for xmas, get me Russell Howard in a box XD
